Interzone Pictures was founded to push the boundaries of storytelling into uncharted territories — real or imagined. Effective impact comes through expanding the universe of ideas. All too often, we are limited not by physical constraints, but by our imagination. Interzone Pictures seeks to take the audience and the crew alike into new worlds never thought possible.
We turn ideas into stories that connect.
Every project begins with an idea whose value is real but is too complex or abstract to readily understand. We begin by translating it. We bring into focus what is truly important, making the idea legible in its simplest and most powerful form.
Ideas resonate through stories. We begin each story with characters, both real and fictional, who take the audience on a journey of discovery.
A world is built with the key idea as its centre of gravity. Everything in it, from the characters and locations to the colour palette and the sound design, orbits that idea, whether the world is built from documentary realism or VFX-driven fantasy.
Each story is configured for a specific location in the attentional landscape, meeting audiences where they are. Impact is achieved by taking them somewhere new.
Effective impact through storytelling. Storytelling is about transformation — making the familiar and the taken-for-granted into something extraordinary, by changing our perspective and questioning what we thought we knew. This makes all storytelling, in J.G. Ballard's words, a kind of science fiction — “The only truly alien planet is Earth.” Effective impact comes through this transformational journey. We seek out the issues that fall through the cracks — important, overlooked, and ready to move — and build each project on a theory of change: an evidence-based account of the good a story can do, designed in from the first translation and measured where it lands.
